What should it look like on Children's Day? Toy, candy or laughter? Let me tell you quietly, Gumi from Crown Dream Kindergarten Futian Campus has just celebrated a special Children's Day! That is the Three Kings’ Day in Spain. Come and see how we celebrate it.

Origin of the Three Kings’ Day

Many believe mysterious events preceded Jesus’ birth with perhaps the most notable being the appearance of the star in Bethlehem. This new star appeared at the sky in the evening just prior to the arrival of Jesus. Three wise men, or Magi as they were known, whose names were Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar, traveled a far distance to pay homage to Christ. They brought with them fine gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. A grand feast would be held on this day to honor the occasion of Jesus’ baptism and to pay homage to the three wise men. Every year, Christmas holiday in Spain lasts until January 6, which is the day of the Three Kings Day. This is also the cutest and the purest festival in Spain, which is the Children’s Day.

相传两千多年前，天空中出现了一颗明亮的星星：这颗星星与众不同，它指向一个即将发生奇异事件的地方——新君王诞生的地方。这个消息在全世界都传开了，不为人知的东方三王，激动地开始了他们追逐星星的旅程。人们把这天定为三王节。每年西班牙的圣诞节一直放假到1.6日，也就是三王节当天。这也是西班牙***可爱、***童心的节日，也就是儿童节。

Every year since Christmas, children start cleaning and decorating houses in order to welcome the Three Kings. One of the traditions is to display miniatures of the village "Belén" where Jesus was born. In the evening of January 5, children write down their wishes in a letter to the Three Kings. In the morning on January 6, children will rush to the tree and look for gifts happily. Children who behaved well in the past year will get the gifts they want, but if they did not behave well, they can only receive the carbon.

每年从圣诞开始，小孩子们就为了迎接三王开始打扫和装饰房子，其中有一项传统就是摆放耶稣出生的村庄“Belén”的微缩模型。1月5日晚上，小朋友们会把心愿写在一封信上，给三王。1月6日一早起床，孩子们就会兴高采烈地奔到树下寻找礼物。这一年表现好的孩子会得到自己想要的礼物，可是，如果过去的一年表现不好，那就只能收到煤炭Carbón。

In the evening of January 5, each city and town hosts its own parade on the eve of Three Kings' Day, called the Cabalgata, to celebrate the arrival of the Three Kings into Spain from their long journey. There will be elves, cute fairy tale characters, messengers who send and receive letters, and the three kings who send gifts and candies to children. Many children take umbrellas or big bags to carry candies - for many children, this is the most exciting moment of the year.

1月5号晚上，西班牙每一个村庄、城市都会组织三王节的花车游行Cabalgata de Reyes。花车上会有精灵、可爱的童话人物、收取信件的信使，以及给小朋友们派发礼物、糖果的三王。很多小朋友们会拿雨伞或者大袋子去捡糖果——对于许多小朋友而言，这是一年中***兴奋的时刻。

As early as December, the ubiquitous holiday cake known as the roscón de Reyes, or kings' cake, starts appearing in the windows of bakeries and grocery stores across Spain.

三王节另一个重要的传统是，西班牙的家家户户都会在三王节这***吃Roscón De Reyes。

The most exciting part of the cake is that two small items are baked inside of it, traditionally a small figurine of baby Jesus and a bean, although they vary. If you're given a slice and find the figurine, it means you'll have good luck for the rest of the year. If you find the bean, however, it's your responsibility to pay for the roscón.

蛋糕里会有一颗蚕豆和一个国王玩偶，吃到国王玩偶的人就可以就带上纸皇冠，代表接下来的一年内都会有好运，而吃到蚕豆的人需要为这个蛋糕买单。

The Three Kings’ Day Activities

Children from PN and K1 classes did the "Packing Candy" activity. In this activity, they not only did exercise the fine motor development of the hands in the PD (physical development) area, but also have a chance to understand the counts and numbers in the M (mathematics) area.

小班组的宝贝们做了《包糖果》的活动，在这个过程里，不仅锻炼了PD（身体发展）领域的手部精细动作发展，更让大家M（数学）领域感受点数和数与量的对应哦！

The holiday marks the biblical adoration of baby Jesus by the three Kings, also referred to as three Wise Men or Magi. According to the Gospel of Matthew, the men found the divine child by following a star across the desert for twelve days to Bethlehem. Melchior, Caspar, and Balthazar -- representing Europe, Arabia, and Africa respectively -- travelled by horse, camel, and elephant in order to present baby Jesus with three symbolic gifts. Look, the K2 & K3 children are decorating the three kings. There are also new goals to be achieved in EAD (Art Expression and Design) area and UW (Understanding the World) area!

你看，中大班的哥哥姐姐们在给三位国王做装饰呐。Melchor，是一位年老的白人长者，他留着白色的胡须，当耶稣出生时，他带来了黄金oro作为礼物；Gaspar，是一位留着黑头发的年轻人，他在耶稣出生的时候带来了薰香incienso，它代表了耶稣的无比自然，也有人说是祭坛的祭礼；Baltasar，他是一位黑人，他给耶稣的诞辰带来了末药，这是一种东方用来一种活血、化瘀、止痛、健胃的药。在EAD（艺术表达和设计）及UW（了解世界）也有新的目标达到哦！

Childhood is a face with innocent smile which look like golden sunflower; childhood is a pair of little hands, folded paper airplanes which carry beautiful dreams to soar; childhood is flawless, beautiful, and short, and the future is very long far.
